Politicians have learned the expediency of an outright lie. Say it quick, say it loud and say it without shame. People who have a vested interest in believing you will do so. Nobody wants to be the person who elected a capricious idiot – and thus it’s easier to alter reality to your own subjective viewpoint than take an objective stance on the situation itself.
