Pretty much my experience with the site too. I went over, made an effort to move stories over, did a few challenges and didn't make back my membership. It didn't me all that long to break even on Medium - and I don't have the patience to jump through the Vocal hoops. I have no idea how anything gets discovered on the site and there's a total lack of transparency. I cancelled my membership and returned to Medium. I'm a fan of working hard, but the reward has to be in some way proportional to the effort, even if the reward is marginal. That didn't happen with Vocal and I don't have the time to invest there.
