Problematic, but we must be careful of inflationary language and continuing to present a binary simple set of goodies and baddies. Hamas are not the Palestinian people and Israel is not a homogenous set of beliefs about what to do.
As a leftie myself I'm also quite concerned about the radicalisation of identity across the political left. I'm a Penguin in direct opposition to this (read my pinned story) The bastardisation of Marx has led to very simplistic narratives about oppressor and oppressed which in the case of Israel/Palestine rapidly fall down under 75 years of batshit political complexity. Most people aren't equipped to say anything or consider the nuances and we must be very careful about who gets the microphone. In this case it seems like BLM Chicago jumped straight in and didn't think about the consequences of doing so. Hamas are a terrorist organisation posing as a democratically elected set of freedom fighters and backing their aims is complicated - especially for progressives... especially the same progressives raging against Iranian treatment of women and the LGBTQ+ communities.
The issue continues to get more complex with every passing decade and I'm worried this will be another chapter in what is turning out to be a costly endeavour. My thoughts are here if you're inclined to read more. https://medium.com/me/stats/post/c386fbd78166
