Reading between the lines, he does seem a little clackwankerish about things - and (although I didn't get into it in this article) he fell out with them after marrying his first cousin. For a man who didn't want anything to do with his father's legacy, he settled on a career as a bookshop owner, though I suspect after inheritance it was more of a hobby. This choice of hobby screams the push-pull of NPD to me, come in, welcome to the bookshop and DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT MY FATHER.
