So, taking a look around the world you think the oppression of women is worst in societies operating a western democratic model? I didn’t say it was perfect. I said it functioned. I think it’s worth working at under the principles of justice and law… and I think that because that’s what western democracies are founded on. You want to make change? Commit to changing the law. RBG did far more for women than anyone. Why? She used the law and she was tenacious.

Stepping away from the main tenets of western democracy legalism because you feel aggrieved about the lack of rape convictions is a backward move? Why? Because once the concept of ‘law’ is broken – people act outside it. If you think women are safer outside the system than changing it from within – have a look at Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.

No it’s not perfect. But it’s the best that we’ve managed in 2000 years. This wave of angry feminism is counter intuitive. It’s all noise and no strategy. It weaves misandry into most of its arguments. Best sorted by the question ‘does this help men and women achieve equality? Or is this about punishing men?’ – in this instance this isn’t about ensuring a fair trial and balancing the rights of victims and perpetrators, whilst maintaining the concept of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ – something which underpins the entire western democractic process. You’ll always have support for Weinstein and Epstein cases, and the thousands of similar cases that are brought to trial – but when it comes to random allegations being fired into the ether, the centre ground average voter won’t endorse it. The more it happens the less believed women will be, regardless of whether they’ve been assaulted or not. #MeToo already lost momentum for this very reason. It means women lose! It means they get less safe.
