Social media has managed to convince a whole bunch of centre right conservatives that they are ‘liberal’ - because they’ll occasionally put their pronouns at the end of an email.

The rest of the time they remain fiscally conservative, adverse to change, and police their chosen issue of the day like a freelance gestapo.

The biggest issue facing the US at the moment is that half its population are under the impression they’re on the moral high ground. As you’ve pointed out - these people don’t want meaningful economic change, they’re too comfortable. They don’t really want social change either, they want to be ‘goodies’ in their own narrative history.

The west has a problem with avarice, one which sits at the heart of capitalism and has to be dealt with at source. Synthetic liberals are one more problem on that list - as they’re convinced they aren’t the problem.
