Sounds like you might be team Penguin on this one - over there, I argue that society shouldn't confer any benefits on married couples it does not offer to other parts of society. It is the legalism emerging from Christianity which has tilted the odds in favour of marriage.

Ben does put up a spirited defence - and I'm convinced by his sincerity about marriage as a bastion of true love, particularly emerging from a faith. We have both railed against the commodification and commercialisation of marriage (well...weddings) but from slightly different angles. :o)
