Sure. That’s the brag. I don’t mind that. You do something awesome, then by all means blow your own trumpet — blow that fucker loud and proud. It’s not my thing to do — but I’m not going to take that away from other people. I’m less impressed with people tooting their own trumpet about earnings than I am about achievements but that’s just me— but let’s say you wrote and published a book.

“I got a book published! Isn’t that fucking awesome!’ — Penguin seal of approval.

“Sooooo…. this happened” alongside a picture of a book. That’s the humblebrag I object to.

It’s really about false humility. If you’re good at what you do then don’t pretend you aren’t. If you’re happy about something like getting engaged or getting married, don’t downplay it as though it’s nothing at all — because if you do, I reserve the right to treat it exactly like that
