Taking an argument to extremes is the easiest way to point out the flaws. I don’t invoke the Nazis very often - but when I’m talking about things like ‘Government mandating what I do with my body’ - I often ask the question, how do we get from THIS government to a fascist regime… the steps are shorter than most people think… once I’ve done that, I then start to consider whether what is being asked of me would be comfortable if my information and rights were given to THAT government. It’s why I’ll never comply with the police unless I absolutely have to, why I don’t want anyone to have my real name on social media and why I don’t want to buy property or work for any branch of the national government. It isn’t Godwin’s Law, it’s Godwin’s guidance.

Great article. Very enjoyable.
