Tell that to the many commenters who believe any critique of progressivism makes me an out and out right-wing fascist. I’m fairly left when it comes to economic redistribution but not hardcore socialist. I’m very much a libertarian/liberal when it comes to social policy. I don’t see much liberalism from progressives at the moment, they believe liberalism only applies to when they speak and not to other people.

Being a socialist and a libertarian are a complete contradiction and I struggle with it. It’s impossible to hand power to the state to offer economic protection to the vulnerable whilst also trying to reduce state interference in the lives of citizens.

It means I’m one of those floating voters in the U.K. – shifting from Liberal Democrat’s to labour whenever the issue changes. My standard position is ABT (anything but Tory)
