That is fair in principle though not in practice - the repercussions of choices made at the individual level impact all of society. In the specific case of abortion, I believe a foetus is a separate legal entity from its mother at the point it becomes viable (at 24 weeks). This legal entity has achieved personhood, should be protected by the state and is tied through legal and social mechanisms to both its biological parents. Whilst it is an ostensibly a woman’s issue, I don’t think that’s a helpful lens through which to view the matter. Society needs to find a way through this, and in a way that ensures the relevant rights of all concerned are protected and enshrined at the right time to the right extent. That’s a difficult balancing act - but I think the U.K. has it just about right.
