That may be the case - and yes, in this particular instance I have treated the election a little like a sporting event... but there is method to this madness and I'll try and explain.
As a centre ground liberal and non-US citizen I'm trying to be fair to both parties. There will be people across Medium who will not accept that Donald Trump is any way electable and was nothing more than a narcissistic overlord who undertook evil at every turn. Conversely there are people who believe that Biden is the embodiment of abusive neoliberal evil.
Those people do not read each other.
But those people both read me. I would like to think I have one of the most diverse audiences on this platform. Partly because I say what I think but also because I maintain a very light and sardonic tone. Many of my conservative readers are shocked to find out I'm a liberal/socialist, likewise my progressive readers are shocked to find out I have strong libertarian views that put me at odds with some of the more exuberant modern rhetoric.
In a world of echo chambers - it's nice not to be inside one and be both challenging and challenged. I've found that being in the centre ground means that people are prepared to come a little bit into the ideological no-mans land that I offer and not call each other names.... though a quick glance down the comments section of this article will show it doesn't always work. :o/
