That's what most people seem to fail to understand - without crazy liberals and their batshit ideas, we would still be stuck in the 19th Century and under the yoke of the ideals of empire, BUT if we let all the batshit liberals like me run the show, society would fall apart at the seams. We move too fast, you move too slow. We have to compromise through the mechanisms of discussion - so whilst the most batshit liberals want to ensure there are 200 genders, and the most conservative conservatives want everyone with a vagina to be mute - those of us closer to the centre must flesh out what the real world will look like - through the mechanisms of democracy.

And the mechanisms of democracy only work if both sets of people come to the table in good faith. I am not convinced there is much of that any more - from either extreme. I liked that Joe Biden spoke at John McCain's funeral - I liked that John McCain's final act in the senate was a giant fuck you to the Trump administration. These are the nuances on which society stumbles through and the quicker we can learn that - the better.

I suspect you're going to be on Ben's side for much of the discussion (and he'll be delighted) but at least there's a place where discussion can happen. :o)
