The backlash was inevitable, that doesn't mean it was justified. That's not what I'm arguing here. This is about how certain people within the movement (the small minority) pushed the movement beyond its original premise and into something that went beyond legal process. Then, because of pluralistic ignorance those vociferous voices weren't held accountable.

This mis-step allowed those with a vested interest - to throw the baby out with bathwater. This isn't an argument refuting feminism, it's a warning to stick within parts of the movement that push for equality and fairness and not move beyond it. Yes most allegations are true, but false allegations do happen. No argument that overlooks this fact is philosophically grounded in fairness. It's a non-starter - and the whole movement suffered as a result.

Sady's argument is perfectly valid and sensible - and what the law is for. A fair legal process doesn't assume vindictiveness or innocence on the part of anyone - it makes a balanced judgment on the facts and testimonies. Huge improvements need to be made in how this happens and it is the correct place for these conversations to happen.

Accusations by social media and the ensuing online fighting do little but destablise society (think Tara Reade / Joe Biden). What individuals choose to believe or not believe is up to them and cannot be mandated by law- but I think there is already a change in the direction of believing women. I'd put this down to the success of the feminist movement in raising awareness and nailing people like Weinstein, Cosby and Epstein. People whose guilt has been ascertained by the courts.

I said the change from #MeToo to #BelieveAllVictims - Victims come from both sexes and has nothing to do with their genitals. Believing them first and then conducting an investigation also causes widespread chaos due to confirmation bias. Do a search for Carl Beach and the fallout from Operation Yewtree in the UK as an example of the problem with doing things this way round.

Thanks for your comment and furthering the discussion. :o)
