The Black Race is indeed a social construct but the point still stands. Otherwise it would seem implausible we've only had a selection of very white people on the throne in a multi-racial community like the UK.

Cromwell was the Lord Protector which is not the same as the King. He dissolved the rump, brought in the Barebones and then was 'elected' by John Lambert. The crucial word there is elected, by virtue of his talents. Likewise Napoleon, who did indeed become Emperor. However, both of these historical figures failed to maintain their respective protectorates and empires, Richard Cromwell was easily ousted and Napoleon III was a complete farce from the get go.

I have fewer problems with monarchy by cessation of the hereditary principle... if we want to have an elective monarchy then I'm fine with that. It is the hereditary aspect of monarchy which makes it about magical bloodlines. Given the existence of the Bush family and the Roosevelt family, there's some evidence that an elective monarchy might work - but they still need to be elected by popular vote. Or if the Trump dynasty continues, by armed insurrection.

You don't have to care about my satisfaction - very few people do and the monarchy is not there to please me.
