The centre does exist and the binary polarising groups of the 2010s (fuelled by social media) are now giving way to a more centrist position. At least that is true here in the UK. We have booted out our radical left and our radical right and seem on course to put in a centre left politician - that's exactly because you can hold a selection of different contradictory truths, the world is not made of cartoon heroes and villains.
