The cost of security is around 2–3 million per year at the top end, most of which would be on initial outlay for securing their property as a one time purchase. This could be reduced by moving to a smaller property rather than living in a mansion. They just want to be a normal couple, get a decent three bed somewhere the real estate isn’t expensive, rather than a mansion in LA.

The amount of security staff required could be significantly reduced by keeping a low profile in a small community and not undertaking public engagements that are complex, controversial or involve flying anywhere (they’re green anyway!) The costs would likely dwindle down over the years as their public profile became lower and lower – rather like ex Prime Ministers. Public interest in them is already waning, that’s why they’re throwing themselves into the public eye again.

They don’t need to earn a living, like most very wealthy people they could likely earn enough from their investments alone. Plus when grandma owns palaces and race horses, and your dad owns most of Cornwall, your inheritance will be pretty good.

Good enough for a small and loyal security detail and a decent life in middle class America or Canada at least. So with all due respect….. you stfu.
