The laws in this case were a mess and the judge was blindsided by a strong defence and badly written statute. I read the different laws the State of Wisconsin enacted and what they were trying to do was allow children to have hunting weapons because most crime in the area is done with handguns and most hunting is done with long rifles - what they did was provide a loophole for long barrelled weapons. Let's hope Rittenhouse is a wake up call indeed. I doubt it will be, if your country can't get it's gun laws together after Sandy Hook - this won't even make a dent.
