The left has embraced a self defeating cacophony of right wing niche interest groups all playing Marxism lite. The working class is moving away not because they are too stupid to see the lofty idealism of the identarian middle class, but because they don’t want any part of it.

If what you want is a trade union pushing for a more equitable pay structure, and what you get is a gender studies lecture - or told that regardless of what your wages are, you’ll always be an oppressive racist - is it hardly surprising the demagoguery of the right holds sway. The population is moving to the right because the left is eating itself with pointless arguments about intersectionality and privilege. You can’t change society unless you’re electable - and there’s nothing electable about a pissing contest between people who should know better.
