The problem seems to be in the balancing act in public political spaces, particularly online. Everyone is surrounding themselves entirely with social discourse they agree with - and it pushes the left to the left on places like Medium and Twitter - and the right further to the right on places like Parler.
When that happens, things in the centre ground appear like they're further on the right than they are. I recently told someone that it's worrying that I'm the Conservative voice on Medium. I'm not a Conservative, I'm an anti-identity politics liberal Brit. Every platform is radicalising away in echo chambers and it's hollowing out the centre ground moderates one way or the other.
I don't like Musk, but I like that he's rebalancing the discourse. Too many people have become far too comfortable with the smell of their own shit. :o)
