The problem with supporting something convenient is that convenience is often not aligned with core values. The monarchy is comfortable, the history is fascinating, the buildings are beautiful, the people involved are (for the most part) quite pleasant - but it doesn't fit with my moral view that all people are of equal value at the point of birth and so it has to go. :o/
