The public response to him after her initial accusation and to her after his legal challenge six years later has been pretty disgusting. The public has seemingly learned nothing about why both misandry (guilt without trial) and misogyny (she’s a lying bitch etc) distort the aims of feminism.

This should always have been about fairness under the law. The legal system is bad at helping trauma victims, it gets a lot wrong and it needs shifting… but splitting into genital based camps of opinion won’t work - and it’ll be women that suffer unduly. What needs to be demonstrated is accountability, that’s why Weinstein et al was so important… but that accountability has to go both ways - and that’s the backlash you’re seeing at Heard. It’s morally wrong because she’s mentally unwell (in my opinion), but based on the evidence presented in court, I can see why the backlash is happening - a large section of it coming from survivors of domestic violence.
