Then what you’re suggesting as a solution is an apartheid… that’s really what the focus on race is all about. An empowered apartheid led by woke people and black radicals isn’t any less of an apartheid than when it was forced through in South Africa. I actually don’t have a problem with this position per se — I think if the Panther route is the one America has to go down then it needs to step up and do exactly that, but I’m of the view that it doesn’t have the support of the majority of Black people. Read more Steve QJ to see how and why that might be the case.

I don’t believe racism can be solved quickly or easily — but I am confident the solution to racism cannot be found by consistently buying into the premise of race. The power games being played by identity politics are alluring but misguided on both the right and the left. When Obama was President, an inordinate amount of focus was on his race — from both sides of the political spectrum. Why? He was, at best, a mediocre President who didn’t achieve a huge amount because he was stymied by Congress. His race is only important to those with a vested interest in centring race in every discussion.

Jeannette and I regularly critique each other’s work — I think she is a fabulous human and a wonderful writer, but I think she’s fundamentally wrong in her approach. She and I both write about racism, she’s a strong empowered black woman and I’m an identity free Penguin. What we share is the common goal of removing prejudice, what we disagree on is the methodology.

You might disagree with me too. Plenty of people do — but you’ve taken the time to write your thoughts down, so thanks for engaging. I’ve written plenty of pieces in the past around this subject, most of which I’m sure you’ll disagree with — but in the spirit of knowing your imagined enemy — here is the most recent one.
