Making women safer means we have to ensure prosecutions are better handled, the court system is fit for purpose and we don't create a backlash that will disproportionately affect women by letting emotive and accusative judgments run amok. I am not married. I think marriage is a historical tool for oppressing women and want no part of it. That's the same as the significant other Penguin. I'm more than happy for other people to get married if they want, but I'd rather not endorse the most obvious form of systemic oppression of women the world has ever created.
