There has been an increasing politicalisation of Medium since I began writing on here in early 2018 - I find it most unwelcome. Medium publications like GEN supercharged what was already an unbalanced platform further to the 'progressive' left.

Political opinions should vary, people should be reminded that disagreement is an integral part of democracy and that disagreement is not offensive in and of itself. We don't share a world view, I'm not an American citizen and if I were, I wouldn't be a Trump supporter - but I can still tell when healthy discourse is being eroded. And it is, and at this stage in history, predominantly by the left.

Like you, I frequently read things I disagree with, because that's how you develop complex viewpoints on complicated issues. There is common ground to be found - but not in the heavily curated and simplistic articles that GEN puts out, complete with their pantomime villainy and idiotic calls to action.

Before the publications, being elevated to the home page used to be an endorsement of quality writing, independent of any political position. Now we have publications and their editors, a small group who set the tone of the platform, at best it's skewing the narrative, at its worst it's financially endorsed propaganda.
