There is no difference of opinion on that matter. The difference of opinion is how American society moves onwards. The OP and many like him seem to think that holding all Republicans responsible for the actions of Trump is valid. As such they are writing triumphial repudiations of Trumpism that read as 'hey guys, go fuck yourselves' or words to that effect.
I think it's valid to hold that view, but I also think it's misguided, childish and counterproductive. The conversation was never about what happened - we agree on Trump' absolute skullfuckery and fecklessness on all matters of state - the question is about what happens next.
I guess the only historical parallel I can draw is the Nuremberg trials. There was a concerted effort to hold evil and criminal people to account, but repercussions were not aimed at the German people overall - most of whom had either been pro-Nazi or complicit. There are very good reasons for that. The world learned after WWI that punitive action against people who acted in their own interests or felt they had little or no choice drives them further to the political right and stokes resentment.
Four years is not a long time and I think if divisions continue to be stoked, someone genuinely malevolent (and not just a feckless narcissist) will emerge in time to run against Biden. Smart people sit back and make notes - and Trump has given them a playbook of tactics that work and don't.
