There is no such things as a libertarian socialist - but it is the main conflict that exists in my political thinking. I cannot square that circle between asking the Government to take a hands off approach on most things, but ensure they are there as a safety net without encroaching on civil liberties. On that we are broadly aligned, on most of those things we are.

Where we differ is on gun control -but I have an article about that coming out soon. I think it's likely a product of upbringing as you're not the only pro-gun person who reads me. I cannot fathom it, but I am British and that is perhaps the point.

To the wider Trump thing, you guys had better hope he's a failed Hitler and not the Ernst Rohm of the American movement. :o/
