There is some room for interpretation here — I think if you’re accommodating someone in acute psychological distress at the point of suicide, you’re likely to make their life better. If you’re accommodating someone who has BPD then they’re likely to get more helpless the more you help — avoiding you abandoning them. Their modus operandi is codependency and that means the more you help, the less able they’ll become. It’s a fine balancing act.
