These folks cannot be satisfied, that’s the game. You cannot win so you don’t indulge them. It’s ambivalence writ large. If the film hadn’t got strong female leads they would’ve complained about that, if the film had a white woman in the lead, that would’ve been the problem. It’ll be slammed for being heteronormative and for being faux-African. These people cannot be reasoned with and are incapable of fun. They don’t really dislike these things, they get a kick out of being petulant
