They do indeed - and your libertarianism does you credit... my hesitation here, committed to the life of a liberal as I am, comes with a hearty caveat. Much of what is pushed out by exercise folks is nonsense, I don't really have a problem with that, as you've said - it's up to discerning info connoisseur to determine whether a diet magic pill helps you transform into a god or goddess, or makes you shit yourself fourteen times a day. That's on you.

My caveat is that we have a very easily influenced group of people who can be disproportionately harmed by the concepts contained in diet culture and body positivity - teenagers. Particularly teen girls. That's a problem - and not one easily solved. Creators don't often out-and-out lie but Instagram and other platforms are all one big exercise in lying about who you are and what you've achieved. We haven't really come to terms with the damage that will do to the teen psyche, though if the fragility of the first wave (those now 21-28) is anything to go by, it doesn't look great for the near future. Though, our newest set of teens seem a lot harder and a lot more social media savvy. In short, I think we need restraint.

I suspect the best thing to do would be to make it incumbent on social media sites to sort those people who genuinely know what they're talking about, from the excitable amateurs who pretend to. I don't know what that looks like - but I'm sure it's getting increasingly necessary.
