Think we've got pretty much the same view on this - people can come play in my comments section if they want, but they're there to play with me and not do their own thing. I don't mind people dropping links to stories or engaging in a bit of back and forth - but anyone with outright abuse gets put in the bin. I would've hidden that guy's long form article, let him think it was still up attracting an audience and enjoyed him getting zero traffic and zero interest from anyone else.
