This is a a very compelling article and I’m almost tempted to join you in the early mornings. Sadly I don’t think I can. Any more than you’d be able to join me when I’m at my most productive and relaxed (about 11pm). Many of the benefits you’ve highlighted are available later in the day too. I often go for midnight walks whilst everyone else is sleeping, social media (before I got rid of it) used to be quieter. I often do my best writing at this time — I don’t have coffee.

I used to feel bad about getting up later than most people. And then I read a book called ‘The Power of When’, which taught me about the different types of circadian rhythms and chronotypes. It explained (in an occasionally patronising way) why certain people are drawn to certain types of the day. Some of the spiel seems a little ‘cold reading’ for my liking, but I feel the book has understood something that has bugged me about my sleeping mismatch for some time.

Thanks for a great article. :o)
