This is a great article – and I’ve never understood the relationship that evangelical Christianity has with capitalism. I’m not a religious scholar by any stretch of the imagination but I’ve read enough of the bible to spot that socialism is a better fit for the Bible than cut-throat capitalism. It seems counter intuitive that countries with fewer religious people (like here in the U.K.) have emerged elements of socialism like universal health care and a basic living wage – whilst this seems to be a massive struggle in the US. I’ve never understood why – but I think your article goes some way to explaining it. Do as I say, not as I do.
