This is an excellent article and it really speaks to the centre ground compassion that is necessary for society and people to function. I have met and worked with many people who have the same traits as your mother - often with horrific backstories, but interwoven with little omissions, and little alternative histories.

I have to remind myself very often that the human brain is incredibly complicated and there is no such notion as truth. That is particularly relevant to those with BPD and childhood trauma as they often don't lie, they simply draw a blank where objectivity is concerned.

As SC says, you have broken the cycle, so well done - it's not an easy cycle to break, and yes you might have a 'fixer' problem for the time being, but that can be carefully mediated against with careful metacognition and the level of deep thought and nuance required to write an article like this one. :o)
