This is definitely in need of an upgraded re-write in the new Trump era. He's running the US like a zero sum game and everything is transactional and competitive. It's interesting to those of us not inclined that way - whether or not Trump intends to do anything he says, or simply just say it, is beside the point - you've illustrated quite nicely why he has a large subsection of the religious right on his side. What an interesting time to be a alive - I'm expecting violence to emerge more frequently in the US and y'all weren't exactly peaceful in the first place. Here in social democracy based Europe, we at least have some sort of safety net for those who can't compete - much as our political right wing would like to remove it. Great article, get it updated and back out for thoughtful people to think on. :o)
