This is interesting and I argue these things a lot with my friend. She believes that each subsequent generation orders it's thinking by the prevailing societal technology. She sees the adherence to logic as an emergent problem of seeing the brain like a computer capable of 1s and 0s, binary choices. She says the way we think about our thinking has been so altered by the paradigm of computers that we can't escape it.
I tend towards somewhere between Stoicism, which I find a bit dated and Taoism, which I find very freeing. Feelings in both cases are there to be experienced, but not to be put in charge. In the case of Taoism, logic doesn't matter much either. It's all just noise.
