This is odd coming from a writer who wrote gushingly about the royal wedding right here. https://nilegirl.medium.com/how-the-royal-wedding-shamed-me-into-the-reality-of-my-romanceless-existence-a9b0273f3262

That's the issue with writing along with the zeitgesit. Instead of questioning the validity of the monarchy back then, you were waxing lyrical about how awesome it was. Commenting on how beautiful the whole ceremony was and how you'd enjoyed Diana back in the 1980s.. That's quite far from someone who finds it difficult to tolerate the splendour of the crown - and a world away from 'the british are the originators of white supremacy. You are of course allowed to change your mind about such things, but as a lifelong republican, some of us were calling out the monarchy when it wasn't cool to do so.

It wasn't any less racist back then but you either failed to notice or didn't draw attention to it. It's very easy to write with the prevailing trends and make money from saying what everyone is thinking. Doesn't mean you should.
