This is pretty much my approach as well - I haven't been to the doctors for about seven years because I think the suicide rate in th medical profession speaks for itself. My GP as a child was a rotund man who smoked like a chimney and prescribed almost everything under the sun for my eczema.... all it did was stress me out. As soon as I could opt out of seeing medical professionals, I did exactly that. My childhood eczema went away of its own accord.

That doesn't mean I've turned my back on the advice of medical professionals as a group - but I want a very hands off approach led by me. I'm sure I'll probably die of something undiagnosed earlier than I should, but in the UK at least doctors are often the children of upper middle class people who didn't know what they wanted to do with their lives so became doctors by default. They're often the least psychologically healthy people in any given room.
