This is sadly the conclusion that I am coming to. I wrote a centre ground article pitched at the problematic relationship between fascism and a lack of questioning — editors got in touch to see if I would consider putting it on the homepage. After reading it, they wanted to alter it in case it offended readers on the left. When I refused to make changes, they didn’t put it on the home page.
I’m a centre ground writer — I call out both the left and the right when I think they’re wrong. Generally when I call out the right, my pieces get promoted and curated, when I call out the left, they fade into obscurity.
Meanwhile I’m seeing the same familiar (and in my opinion lazy) journalists getting featured every week. Their pieces adding nothing to discussions that a functioning society needs to have, and instead playing to an already established ideological base. One, I presume, largely shared by the curators.
