This is why I'm so angry with short-sighted politicians - by all means, underfund nursery places, remove social workers, reduce child protection staff, cut school-dinner funding, reduce social cohesion by closing community spaces - but recognise that society is going to be paying in the long run in cold hard cash and collective misery.

This is why I both hate the left and will always vote left.
