This point as far as I'm concerned is at the crux of the problem - though I would not like to have been the political operative tasked with showing restraint against the whim of a home population between 7th and 30th October. To do this would've required exceptional foresight and the trust of the public.

Like you, I have been accused of being an apologist for a genocide - these are big words thrown around with reckless abandon who don't know what an apology is, or what a genocide happens to be. I think there's something more sinister at work however, I think Hamas (and other groups) have cottoned onto the destabilising effect of social media on liberal populations. They've updated the Vietnamese playbook for the digital age.
