Trump is able to rile his core base because there are an equal and opposite number of intransigent people on the left who play into his hands and who skew every story as though Trump is satan incarnate.

The best thing to happen is for the moderates from both parties to move back into the centre ground, find a commonality of perspective.... like being worried for their kids growing up in a country being trapped between a whole bunch of ideological idiots hell bent on turning everything into a war.

Trump doesn't need to concede, he's lost. The mechanisms of democracy will see him out - and I have faith in that. America's next Trump might not be a preening narcissist though- it may be someone smarter. It may be someone who can use outrageous statements made by the left against them. The current environment in the US is ripe for such a person to rise up.

The solution is to move everyone back into a more sensible centre ground perspective and to call out demagoguery on both sides. They're fueling each other.
