Trump just insulted and mocked a sixteen year old child!
And here’s why you shouldn’t care and just get on with your day.
It makes sense doesn’t it? That outrage.
Donald Trump, the most powerful man in the world is being mean to a sixteen year old girl. He’s tweeted a sarcastic message about her. It’s broadly in line with his behaviour over the last few years. I’m not surprised. Nor should you be. This is all par for the course with Trump.
But you also shouldn’t rush to Greta Thunberg’s defence.
There are many reasons why adults should defend children from other adults, and many of us would consider it our moral duty. But take a step back and look at the double edged sword you’re wielding before you stab yourself in the face.
By wading in to defend her honour… you diminish her. Your overprotective knee-jerk reaction suggests that she can’t handle this. She can. She doesn’t need your help. She will handle his words without the name calling, without the point scoring, without losing her temper.
