Truth is indeed plural, but some objective truths are often required to make some sense of how the world works. Reality can be shaped and bended but democracy will only allow those bends to go so far before the whole thing falls apart.

The Significant Other Penguin's job is to run an online forum for disabled people; so I'm well versed in the community strengths - and indeed the community weaknesses. Whilst there are people who vilify the disabled from outside, there are also perils to being within it - the propensity for competitive disability in certain quarters and the tendency for personality disorders to take-over such a space with relative ease.

There is a huge benefit to being part of a group - but that comes at the cost of being part of a group and having to acquiesce to that groupthink. There are also benefits to being independent. Humans should weigh these things up carefully. The SOP no longer is part of their subsection of disabled people because they found it to be increasingly toxic and harmful to their emotional wellbeing.
