We do value them, we have them. They’re enshrined in the Human Rights Act (1997) which underpins British law. We do still have a careful balancing act - at the moment our batshit blonde clown in chief is attempting to get refugees airlifted to Rwanda on arrival. It’ll likely go down in flames in the law courts. We have legislation banging through the high court and court of appeal about trans right in the U.K. We definitely care about civil rights. It’s an integral part of being a Brit.

The point of this article wasn’t to pick a side, it was to lay out both sides of the voter divide and try and work out who might win the next election. It’s clear, to me at least, that for many in the US the economic arguments outweigh the civil rights arguments.
