We had a lot of those arguments being made in the 1930s and 1940s when the NHS was set up, and I still pay tax knowing that I underuse it comparatively with a lot of people in the country. The NHS was ideologically opposed by our political right (and still is) but hopefully your country will bite the bullet sometime soon and go for Nationalised Health Care, I think it'd lower a lot of the societal tensions you experience.
And now just to be an annoying argumentative bird....I see your marginalisation swapping argument and raise you trans-men. Not a marginalised group because some of them are swapping out into positions of privilege and away from marginalisation? ;o)
