Well…. Let us take the Coopers as an example. They get into a fracas in a park where neither excelled in interpersonal communication. She was cancelled he was not. I believe she was dismissed without investigation by her firm (subject to legal challenge) and he was given a show about birdwatching to host.

There are of course consequences to every action. His and hers. But cancellation by mob rule is a disproportionate response, particularly when meted out by an unthinking uninformed mob offered zero context and who do zero thought. Jon Ronson wrote a great book about it, well worth reading called ‘so you’ve been publically shamed’ or something like that. Interesting read. Won’t work on those who lack the capacity for shame.

As for the libertarian part, you’ll see I’m a left-leaning libertarian. My inner socialist and inner libertarian are always at war with each other. My penguin political compass explains my position… but ultimately the free market won’t work and it’s almost always hijacked by the upper middle class. Identity politics is an excellent vehicle for this process and will follow the same path as the French Revolution, ostensibly about bread and poverty but mostly about personalities and cults.
