What a person chooses to wear or not wear is entirely their own choice. But in a liberal society, it comes with two caveats.

Firstly, that you deal with the backlash of your choice (provided it isn't violent). If you decide to go against the established 'norms' of a society to make a political point - don't be surprised if it upsets other members of society - and don't be surprised if they raise merry hell about it.

Secondly, this freedom to choose must apply across the board. The left can't hold a false dichotomy where there are 'approved' fashion rule breaks such as Mr Styles in dress - but then throw the full weight of their ire behind 'cultural appropriation' when someone shows up wearing something they choose to wear.

More accurately. They can hold both positions if they like. Liberal societies allow people to consent or dissent to whatever they like... but it will come with the label of rank hypocrisy.

And yes, the reverse also applies. Right Wing folks who want to wear Indian headdresses, have dreds or wear sombreros and make it part of their libertarian position - must also accept that Harry Styles can put on a dress.

Besides, he looks rather fabulous.
