What a wonderful story - I'm sure that your grandson is very happy with his choice. Despite all the whirlwinding happening in society at the moment and battle lines being drawn all over the place by scientists, religious figures, psychologists and others - it's just plain love that really matters.
But having buckets of love doesn't mean a new situation isn't unsettling - and that's why stories like this one are important. I can see the other two commenters are a curious and questioning conservative (I presume) - trying to navigate this complex topic.. and a trans-teenager who doesn't agree your feelings are valid. I hope both of them have taken something from this - because it's a beautifully written story.
I think this article is dripping with honesty, compassion and awesomeness and I'm glad it arrived in my feed. I hope Wren continues to be happy. And if Wren changes his mind and wants to return to being Lauren, that'll be okay too. A grandmother's love should be, and in your case seems to be, entirely unconditional.
Great article. :o)
