Whole heartedly agree no justification is needed - but a little look down the comments section highlights the problem here. Everyone who has commented is Trans or trans-questioning - the trans-community (certainly in Medium) vocalises its thoughts in an echo chamber of supportive voices. This is both uplifting and dangerous in equal measure - uplifting because support is always a boon and dangerous because groupthink can lead impressionable people into believing the world is infinitely more intolerant than it happens to be.
Your experience is interesting but throws up some interesting philosophical questions which haven't been addressed. Your medical care and living as a woman in the community are different things, though they may provide biological and psychological solutions to many of the same issues.... but then we get into the debate of 'what makes a woman a woman' and we go in circles. You could, in theory have the medical intervention but continue to live as a man, but you have chosen not to - and as we blur the lines of 'what is gender' we then get stuck.
Heads up, you may not appreciate the Penguin position or the tone of my writing - but I'm always in favour of englightening discussions. Here's the most recent Penguin position on trans-issues. https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/we-wont-solve-trans-debates-because-we-can-t-define-woman-1479823395d4
In case it hasn't come across in my comment, continue to be yourself. Human beings are human beings and everyone is fine the way they are and deserve both compassion and a place in the conversation. :o)
